Luisa Matzner
Designer & Illustrator

Luisa, realized that she wanted to become a designer when she found out that she could design surface patterns for fabric. As a avid user of her family’s sewing machine, she was quite excited to design her own fabric for projects. One thing led to another, and before she knew it, she graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a BFA in design.

Her work is multidisciplinary, but she mainly focuses on graphic design and advertising, both print and digital. She particularly enjoys working within different aesthetics and styles, being able to design within established branding guidelines as well as more experimental styles. With a background in printmaking, she is especially passionate about print media in all its forms.

While at UT Austin, she was awarded the Riso Room fellowship in the Department of Art and Art History. She was also a senior editorial illustrator at the campus newspaper, The Daily Texan, for two years. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in library and information science at the University of Illinois, where she applies design thinking to information contexts. In her free time, you can find her knitting, dancing, or staying up too late playing the piano.

Luisa has worked with a variety of clients in the past, including Dress for Success Austin, UT Dell Medical School, Texas Archaelogical Research Lab, and Hip Haven of Austin.
